It's now a men's shelter, and it's one of the best I've stayed in. The rooms and linen are clean, and they provide three meals a day. They also help you get back on your feet, with programs to find a place that fits your budget. It's conveniently near a bus stop that drops you right by the subway. I'd strongly recommend it to any fellow man who's down on his luck.

The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, but the coffee was average at best and breakfast came in a bag. Parking is terrible, and there's no pull-through spot to check in or unload bags. There are no ice or vending machines on each floor, and no microwaves. The doors were the worst part. Room doors slam, and so do the fire exit doors. If you're near one, a security guard makes rounds twice an hour through the night and early morning, letting the door slam behind them. Just as you're drifting back to sleep, bam, another slam. If you're anything but a heavy sleeper, I'd be very wary of staying here.

I don't smoke, but the person at the hotel laughed and told me the only room available was a smokers' room, and I could open the window. It was on the ground floor, and as a woman on my own, I didn't want to leave a window open at night. I'd missed a flight, so this was an emergency stay. The free breakfast and shuttle were decent. I'd read the bed bug reviews, but I was so tired I slept in pants and long-sleeved pajamas. Maybe they'd fixed the problem, because I didn't get bitten. If you've missed a flight and need a cheap hotel, I'd recommend it. If you're looking for a five-star place, this isn't it.

I'm posting this to warn anyone thinking about staying at this inn. There were blood stains on the bed, and I found a reddish, flat insect that I presume was a bed bug. After just one night, I had many reddish, itchy spots, especially on my arms, legs, and back. I've been very stressed that the bugs might have come home with me on my clothes. A week after checking out, the spots were still so visible that I couldn't go out without jeans and a long-sleeved shirt covering my arms and legs, even though the weather was hot. When I called, the inn didn't apologize and acted as though the problem was my responsibility. A staff member promised to ask the manager to call me back, but nobody did. The staff were rude and the service was poor. I hope this inn is shut down. Please don't stay here, even for one night, for your physical and mental health.

The staff have helped me in so many ways, and they’re really professional. The Metro Inn is currently being used as a women’s homeless shelter, and it’s kept very clean. Losing my apartment and having to enter the shelter system has been stressful, upsetting, and exhausting, but staying here has made things feel manageable.
