Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Concord (Kannapolis), NC

We’ve stayed here because it’s convenient for visiting my family, and the prices seem more reasonable than the nearby hotels. The overall experience has been fine, and I’d come back. Breakfast varies from day to day and used to be better. The front desk person seems to cover several things at once, so more help during breakfast would be useful. Don’t count on other guests to tell staff when something needs attention. Our odd-numbered room faced a Shell gas station and could be noisy, and the parking lot added noise too. I’m considering a room on that side nearer an end rather than in the middle.

The room was clean, with a TV, microwave, and mini fridge, and the bathroom was clean too. Shower pressure was good. It looks like the place may be getting updated soon. Service was attentive, and the included breakfast was enough to get the morning going. The location is great for food, fuel, and highway access. I’d stay again.

For a quick trip, it did the job, though there wasn’t much to rave about. The blackout curtain was nice, there were plenty of towels, and breakfast was standard. The room was almost clean all over. The laminate flooring made the room feel empty and echoey. We could hear the upstairs guest walking around, even though they were probably just moving normally. Light sleepers should be prepared for the noise, and kids might do better in slippers. We didn’t use the cups by the in-room coffee setup because their plastic covering was torn and open, so we got cups downstairs instead. The fridge was nearly room temperature when we arrived. We turned it up right away, then to full max the next morning, and it took a few more hours to get close to normal fridge temperature. Our leftovers from the first night had been out of temperature for so long that we didn’t feel safe eating them, which was a waste.

For the price, I’d come back. We were in town for a competition at Cabarrus Arena, and the location and rate made Country Inn & Suites a good choice. The room layout was odd, but it had what we needed, was clean and stocked, and we had no major complaints during our one-night stay. We were told at check-in to contact the front desk if we needed anything, and the service was excellent. The two women who checked us in and out were wonderful. Their warmth made the stay much better. The main drawback was noise: conversations in the hallway and other rooms came through the door and walls quite clearly. The appliances and amenities worked, but they felt dated and could use an update. Four Country Comfort Stars out of five!
