Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City

The bartenders were all lovely, and there’s a good range of drinks at the bar. The casino is a decent size, with an upstairs area where smoking isn’t allowed and a nice choice of machines. I first stopped in sometime in 2024 because I wanted pho, then decided to get a room since I’m a truck driver. It was clean and nice, though nothing particularly special. I went again on Saturday, 1/10/26, and had a great time.

The rooms were reasonably clean, but they all smelled like old casino and cigarettes. There isn’t much going on, especially during the week. It’s in the middle of nowhere, and hardly anything is open before the weekend, including restaurants. I think there were only one or two open.

That sky wall on the way to the restaurants is amazing. Check-in was easy, and the rooms were nice. Parking is what it is at such a huge place, so be ready to walk a bit. If you’re really out of shape, call it a free workout. I slept like a baby, despite other reviews mentioning noise. The casino was packed on Christmas Eve. By around midnight, when I left, only half the table games were open. I played for about six hours before losing my budgeted money and enjoyed myself. Smoke wasn’t much of an issue compared with other places that allow it. The ventilation seemed best by the table games, probably because of the open ceiling. In a corner section, the smoke didn’t clear well, and my clothes smelled like I’d rubbed them in an ashtray by the time I got back to my room. I travel for work around the country, and spending Christmas here was a great break from my usual routine.

We had a good stay, and the attached restaurants were decent. We also caught a fun comedy show there. I’m not much of a gambler, but it was a nice short vacation with my wife. The one thing keeping this from five stars was that when I went to the desk for clean towels, I was told none were available.
