Best Host Inn Plaza Kansas City South

It’s not a glamorous place, but for a simple, inexpensive overnight stay, it was better than I expected for the cost. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the towels were clean, though a bit rough. Breakfast was the usual free selection, nothing special, but the staff were attentive. Our room was surprisingly quiet even though it was right by the elevator. Some of the older building needs work, but there was plenty of evidence of maintenance and updates underway. The hotel has some strict policies, though they seemed fair unless you’re looking to host a loud party.

The room was comfortable, the appliances all worked, and the weekend price was great. I especially liked having a laundromat on the same floor as my room. There was a pretty good selection in the vending machines, too. I can’t complain about the place and will be back soon.

The staff were the friendliest and most accommodating hotel team I’ve met. They were funny, welcoming, and helpful, and it really made the stay. The room was spacious, the water was hot, and the place seemed clean from what we could tell. We didn’t have time to try breakfast, but the breakfast area was full both mornings. The building has character, from the lobby fountain and fun statue to the dark wood in the hall. The gift basket was nice, the fridge was great, and the beds were fairly comfortable. Our only small gripes were that the outlets didn’t hold plugs securely, and the curtains let in too much light. Our room faced the front sign and floodlights; a side-opening curtain or better light-blocking would’ve helped. We were very happy with the stay and would book again when we’re in the area.

The staff at check-in were pleasant, and everything went smoothly. I used the pool, which was a good temperature. The room was average, with a large TV but not many cable channels. The bed was clean and comfortable, though the bathroom could use some attention. My main annoyance was that the blackout shade and curtains wouldn’t close over the window, so I woke with the sunrise. That was handy, I guess, since someone knocked at 7:15 on Saturday morning to ask if I was checking out or staying over. For the price, I got a decent deal.
