The housekeepers were kind, at least. But the towel rack by the sink fell off as we tried to hang a towel, and the TV audio was so distorted it was hard to make out what anyone was saying. About an hour before we left, we spotted a cockroach in the bathroom. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The remodel looks decent, but the neighborhood felt very sketchy. My neighbors seemed to be living there, going by what I saw. The so-called breakfast was just coffee, juice, and packets of mini-muffins in the small foyer, with no real breakfast area. Over my four days, the room was serviced once. I reported after the first night that the microwave didn't work, and it was never fixed.

The room was clean when I arrived and fairly quiet, which is the only reason this place gets a star from me. I came to KC for work and expected to stay a month, but after more than a week I packed up and found another hotel. I asked for housekeeping every day and was told they'd come "tomorrow" each time. They only showed up on day 8, made half the bed, and left no towels or soap. I'd already paid, otherwise I would have left after the first night. That was also the only night my door worked. After that, it stopped opening, and every time I went out I had to go to the front desk and wait for someone to unlock it with a key. It happened every day. Once I stood outside my room for 30 minutes until the desk was free, and the door stayed broken for the whole week.

Both rooms had dirty, stained bedding, and looked as if someone was still staying in them or the staff had only made the beds. In the first room, trash was scattered on the floor, the chair was full of crumbs and pubic hair, and the bathroom had garbage and a brown smear in the tub. Someone had already used the complimentary soaps. We told the man at the front desk, who was asleep and had to be woken up. He gave us a key to a second room, but it was dirty too. There was a used scratch-off ticket on the counter, trash on the floor, and pee on the toilet.
