THE ISO HOTEL, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

We booked just one night after a late flight arrival, and I wasn’t expecting much, but ISO Hotel impressed us for the price. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with ocean views. They also provided breakfast snacks, free bikes for the path, and water bottles when we arrived. It’s a good option for a night or two, especially if you want to be close to the airport. We’d recommend it and stay again.

The rooms aren’t especially modern, but they were clean and spacious, with an authentic island feel. We traveled with our 5-month-old, and they couldn’t provide a crib, though a pack and play was already set up in the room before we arrived, which we appreciated. The setting was gorgeous. Our patio looked out over the ocean, so we watched the sunrise each morning with coffee, either there or in the courtyard. The beach and a small boardwalk are just steps away, and the grocery store, Starbucks, and local restaurants are close too. We plan to stay again on our next visit.

It was quiet and peaceful, with lovely views, walk-out patios, and an easy stroll along the boardwalk to other resorts. The pool was cold, though, and the nearby wild roosters can wake you up. The courtesy bikes were a nice touch, since there are great paths close by. The grab-and-go breakfast was very basic, and customer service could use improvement. The property restaurant is closed. It would help if they handed out a pamphlet at check-in with nearby food options, or offered a discount at a partner spot. There’s no internet, so this isn’t a good choice for working remotely, traveling with kids, or having to stay in and stream during bad weather. The ice machine is inside the office, which closes at 10 p.m., making it inconvenient if you want ice for a drink while enjoying the waves and stars.

The yoga class we attended was odd and ended well before the hour. On other days, though, we noticed teachers leading a more recognizable vinyasa flow for the full hour. Our room had a partial ocean view, and we caught some lovely sunrises from bed and the balcony. The shower felt a bit short for us since we’re tall, but the room worked well for sleeping and as a base. It’s well placed for visiting both the north and south sides of the island, with a supermarket, restaurants, and food trucks nearby. The hotel restaurant was under construction, so we didn’t see it. The breakfast area also had items stored in it, giving it a bit of a building-site feel. Breakfast came in individual portions with lots of plastic packaging, which didn’t seem very sustainable.
