Fairfield Inn and Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport

Erica, the Front Desk Lead, made the positive part of our stay at Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port. She was warm, professional, and attentive from the start. The breakfast staff were just as kind and efficient, even though we were cutting it close both mornings. The whole team made us feel welcome, and we’d stay again for them. The other visit was a letdown. I checked in early and joined the wait list, then saw later arrivals get rooms. Kim told me rudely that I needed to be on a “two-page wait list” instead of checking how many people were ahead of me. She then chatted with someone behind me who commented on my frustration instead of moving service along. The manager apologized and gave me 5,000 points, though I thought it would be 10,000, which was confusing. We were downstairs 15 minutes before the 3:00 AM shuttle, which is meant to run hourly. At 3:25 it still hadn’t shown up. They ordered an Uber, which I appreciated, but it was too small for us and our six bags. Luckily, the driver made it work. The stay lacked attention to detail and professionalism.

We’re Bonvoy members and usually stay with their hotels when we travel, so this one felt below Marriott standards. The AC was loud, though it did cover up the hallway noise. Breakfast was just okay: the eggs were good, the turkey sausage awful. There was no in-room safe or clock. I was glad we only stayed one night.

The receptionist at the desk was patient and really nice. Still, we waited an hour in the lobby before checking in, and the first room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. They moved us to another room, which was fine until about ten minutes later, when a couple opened our door with their key. Definitely a reminder to use every lock. I’ll be waiting to speak with management.

The room was spacious, and having two TVs was nice. The shower pressure and showerhead were fantastic. The bed, though, was oddly close to the AC unit. The bar seemed overpriced even by South Florida standards. We sat down after seeing a man farther along the bar still putting his straw in his glass. The bartender eventually came over as we were leaving, but didn’t seem pleased to be there, so we didn’t sit back down. Check-in also lacked the warmth I expect as a Bonvoy member, though it wasn’t terrible. Road noise and only decent service didn’t help. A solid room, but a pretty ordinary stay, and not something Marriott should be proud of overall.
