The Gardens at West Maui

With such a great location, you'd hope they would care whether guests can sleep. We went three nights without sleep because a rooster kept going off and shitting on our doorstep at 3am. When we raised it, staff said the chickens didn't bother them and that if they bothered us, we should go kill them. Of course, they only work in the office during the middle of the day and don't have to try sleeping there.

The accessible bathtub in unit 102 needs attention. It's an old, slippery tub, with no proper way to shower and no seat, so standing in it doesn't feel safe. There are no handicapped stairs. The beds were good, and the apartment was clean, with cold air and entrances at both the front and back. The kitchen was nice and well stocked. Laundry was conveniently placed, and the machines worked well. There were lots of closets, too. I loved the good-sized patio, sitting in the breeze with my Great Granddaughter.

After a full day of travel from Florida, we arrived in the evening to room 403 and found fleas, blood-stained sheets, and a very uncomfortable mattress. Thankfully, Lyndale at the 24 hour reservations desk moved us to the Sands of Lahaina a few blocks away. That was the kind of stay we had expected, and the quality was much better.

Our room by the pool was very clean and quiet, and we liked it. The other couple traveling with us stayed nearer the road and had trouble with traffic noise and neighbors' barking dogs.
