Residence Inn by Marriott Oahu Kapolei

Just one night, but I was impressed by how the room was laid out, along with the staff and overall convenience. Breakfast had great options and attentive staff. We saw people enjoying the pool, then got dinner from the food trucks outside. My fish and chips were tasty and there was plenty of it.

We often choose Residence Inn by Marriott because having a kitchen matters to us. This hotel was conveniently located, and our room was clean and comfortable. We stayed about a week, and the visit was pleasant until an upsetting encounter on the last day. My young child was walking along the couch edge while my husband and I sat nearby watching him. A staff member we hadn’t seen before started yelling at him. I calmly said I would handle it. I’d never had a stranger speak to my child that way while I was right there. She then turned to my husband and said, “Right now,” in a commanding, disrespectful tone, gave me an unpleasant look, and walked off. I felt surprised and hurt by her attitude. When I asked another staff member about her later, I was told she was the front desk manager. That made it especially disappointing. I’d expect someone in a hospitality management role to be professional, courteous, and respectful of boundaries with guests and their families. The encounter left a sour impression and overshadowed what had otherwise been a pleasant stay.

Marriott Kapolei was amazing when I came home in August this year. From check-in through checkout, everything was smooth and hassle free. The front desk workers showed plenty of Aloha, and were helpful and respectful. I had no problems at all. My room was more spacious and beautiful than I expected, and it was clean throughout, from the kitchenette to the stocked bathroom. Breakfast was BOMMMMB! The man who was there all weekend had top-tier energy, even in the morning while feeding the whole hotel. I really appreciate him. Please keep up the good work and don’t change. Would I recommend it? We spent two weeks here, and the spacious, clean room and nice amenities made for an excellent stay. Everyone treated us courteously and professionally. The buffet breakfast was really good, and we liked the local feel and how convenient it was for getting around the whole island. I’d definitely recommend staying here. Mahalo!
