Homewood Suites by Hilton Houston / Katy Mills Mall

The place itself is great, and both the service and room quality were good, but the noise kept me up all night. Several times I woke to what sounded like water or pebbles falling inside the walls. There also seemed to be construction starting at 7 a.m., which should be illegal. I got absolutely no rest.

I’m in the Katy area every 2-3 weeks and have stayed here many times. I love this hotel, but the pool is so freezing cold that it’s unusable. I’ll probably look for another place with a better pool. If you don’t need one, I’d recommend this hotel 100%.

I travel a lot for work and have a fairly high security clearance, and no one has ever threatened to call the police on me before. The night employee working 3-11 p.m. came around from behind the desk and followed me down the hall. Check the tape if you don’t believe me. There was a line waiting while she was away from the desk. My mom and aunt had checked in the day before to visit family. I’d called ahead to explain that I’d be flying in the next day. When I arrived from the airport, they went upstairs, then realized their keys didn’t work. I asked the guest agent twice to update them and came back while she was re-keying them. The hallways were hot, the reservation was new, and I’m a diamond member, so I asked for water. She got annoyed and said no because I’d been there the day before. I explained that my mom and aunt had been there, not me, and that they’d picked me up from the airport. It was just water. I told her her attitude was ugly, she got unglued and threatened to call the police. I kept walking toward the elevator to de-escalate. It took me about three months to write this. I even called to ask for the manager’s card and hours, but she was on vacation. Hilton is still my brand of choice, but I avoid this hotel and stay at the Embassy Suites when visiting family in the area.

On our February tour of Texas, this had the best hotel breakfast setup we came across. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff were attentive. Great place!
