Towneplace Suites by Marriott Saginaw

The staff were wonderful, especially the front desk ladies. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, and there was plenty of parking. The location felt safe for Saginaw, with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. My second-floor room in the middle of the building was very, very quiet. The bed was comfortable, linens appeared clean, and the AC and heat worked well. It was great to be able to open the window for fresh air. The complimentary breakfasts were very good with a decent variety, though they shut down early, at 9am during the week. The pool was very warm, but that area needs renovation: the shower didn't work, paint was peeling, and screws were falling from the ceiling. I didn't visit the workout room. I used Marriott points, so the stay was free aside from the $75 pet fee. At full price, I probably wouldn't have stayed. The room smelled bad, though luckily I brought a powerful plug-in to cover it. The rooms are small, but the king studio was laid out nicely and the bathroom was a good size. The TV was small. Cleanliness was a problem, especially the disgustingly greasy kitchen, cabinets, fridge exterior, and microwave. The bathroom was okay, but the sink only trickled and the fixtures need updating. The old, dirty carpet and upholstered furniture need replacing throughout the hotel. I wouldn't take my shoes off, and was glad I brought a sheet to cover the couch. With serious upkeep, heavy cleaning, and new floors and furniture, this could be a nice place.

Every time I went down, the gym was empty. The hotel is a bit older and needs updating, but it was livable. The customer service and staff were wonderful, though, and one receptionist went far beyond what I expected to make the stay worthwhile. That service is worth it.

I've stayed here every year or two for over 10 years, but it hasn't changed or had any refresh. The hotel is old, dated, and really needs an update. It's awful, and with newer, better choices around, I won't stay again. The people aren't the problem, the service is fine, and the location is convenient. But the bathroom caulk was coming out, and the shower diverter didn't work. At least half the water still went into the tub instead of the shower, and the tub spout needed replacing. The appliances were very old, and the refrigerator was dirty. The carpet was worn, old, and dirty, and unraveling by the bathroom doorway. The AC was very loud and didn't seem to work well. It ran constantly and never shut off. I was booked for three nights, but cancelled the last one and moved to another hotel chain.
