Courtyard by Marriott Miami Dadeland

The room’s thermostat never worked right, swinging between too hot and too cold, and nothing was fixed after I complained. After the beach, we asked for extra towels and were told the linen delivery hadn’t arrived, so none would be available until 1 a.m. When we returned to our room around 11:10, we were locked out and had to go downstairs to get back in. Breakfast was another mess. I’d paid for it through the Expedia app, but the hotel didn’t include it or give us a voucher. We waited about 30 minutes just to order because they were short staffed. The one employee on duty stayed calm and patient, but clearly needed help. Then the food took another half hour. My sister’s avocado toast was tiny, just one slice with barely any avocado. We had to share and then buy more food elsewhere. I paid a lot for this stay, and the poor service and management made it a terrible experience. It wasn’t worth the price.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and all the staff were friendly. We enjoyed our dinner, the bistro food was good, and the service at dinner was wonderful. Breakfast, though, came out in shifts, and I’d finished eating before my husband was served. We also had a 20-minute wait to fix the door lock after its battery died, following several trips trying to work out what was wrong. Valet is usually convenient, but getting our car took a long time even though no one else was waiting. There’s visible wear around the hotel, including stained carpets. Even with those issues, we had a good stay.

The room was quiet for such a congested downtown area, with blackout curtains that let us sleep well and a comfortable bed. The room was clean and had no strange smells or noises. Front desk service was very good, and the valet service was excellent, though it cost extra and was very expensive. Having a Publix right across the street was a big plus. The price was high, and there was no free breakfast or even coffee. Everything costs extra. The Bistro was expensive and the food wasn’t great. Only one of the two elevators was working, so waits got long. Family staying across the street at the main Marriot thought the Bonvoy was nicer. I’d stay here again if I liked being in Miami, which I don’t.

Adrian, Sebastian, and Alice at the front desk made me feel like family. They were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed. Their kindness and professionalism were the best part of my trip. The Courtyard by Marriott in Kendall was clean and comfortable, with a relaxing feel from the moment I walked in. I’m grateful for such a lovely stay and will come back next time I’m in Kendall.
