Wyndham Garden New Orleans Airport

Our flight was canceled, so we booked a room from the airport and took a 15-minute Uber ride over, only to be told there were no rooms available. We were exhausted and had to find somewhere else on the spot. The front desk assured us my card wouldn't be charged, but it was. They also wouldn't reimburse the Uber fare, even though they'd accepted a reservation they couldn't honor just 15 minutes earlier. Haithem Mansour, General Manager, never returned my calls, and Summer, the front desk manager, wasn't helpful either. I'd expect better from Wyndham, and wouldn't recommend staying here.

We booked without knowing the property or seeing the latest reviews. The lobby sign says the place is 100% smoke free, yet the building reeked of cigarette smoke. When I told an employee, whose name I'll leave out out of respect, she said the hotel owner lived there and was the one smoking. She said they couldn't kick out the owner, so nothing could be done. That shouldn't make a difference, but apparently it does. I asked for his name and business card, but she handed me a different card. Smoke wasn't the only issue: the shower curtains were cheap, and water leaked out whenever anyone showered. Poorly managed. Reviews matter, so do your research and look at your options before booking.

We had three rooms booked. The first reservation was made a year ahead and confirmed with a number, but when we arrived there was no room. They did manage to get me one. The second room, booked in January, was available without a problem. The third had been booked in November, then was canceled a few days before we arrived. They were able to fit that third room into our other two. One bed had dirty sheets, but staff did change them when we reported it. The rooms were dirty, with dirt built up in the corners, and the bathtubs in both rooms were visibly stained and dirty. They advertise a restaurant, but there wasn't one or a bar. We ordered delivery and ate at the lobby tables; it was very cold, and staff said they couldn't adjust the heat or turn on the fireplaces. Meanwhile, staff had heaters at the front desk. While we ate, we could see people cooking for themselves in what was supposed to be the kitchen. The lobby ceiling was falling down.

We stayed here for a parade ball at the Pontchartrain Center. The closet was the cleanest spot in our room. Everything else was filthy: stained chairs and walls, carpets covered in stains, and thick dust on every light fixture. The lobby, halls, elevator, and rooms all smelled awful.
