Hyatt Place Kent Narrows & Marina

The boat traffic is a big part of the experience here. From the balcony at Hyatt Place Kent Narrows, you can watch Skipjacks head out for their daily oyster runs alongside fishing boats, pleasure craft, and sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay. I've seen gorgeous calm days and some incredible storms from these rooms, and the view never gets old. Crossing the Bay Bridge on the way in is exciting too. The staff are always warm and accommodating. The hotel bar and restaurant are on point, and breakfast feels special with the water, pool, and passing boats in view. Kent Narrows has long, scenic, well-kept paths for walking and biking, plus plenty of places to eat nearby. There's fast food, local restaurants, a little Mexican place around the corner, the restaurant next door, an upscale spot, and a real hole-in-the-wall. Different styles, all excellent. It's one of the most peaceful places in Maryland, and we make a point of staying here whenever we're in the area. It's also very convenient for the Annapolis Boat Shows in spring or fall, about 20 minutes from downtown Annapolis. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Place Kent Narrows. The gym was clean and well equipped, and breakfast overlooking the marina and waterfront was a treat. Our room faced the parking lot instead of the water, but that put us on the sunrise side. And if you go, say hi to Chip at the front desk. He's become a friend.

I used to love staying at Hyatt Place Kent Island, but this latest visit was upsetting and badly handled. I booked two weeks ahead, yet when I arrived, I was told my reserved room had been given to someone else. My choices were two room types I hadn't wanted. I got there around 11:30 a.m. and understand check-in is officially at 4, but I waited more than four hours. Around 4, I was told to take a room unlike the one I booked or keep waiting. The way staff dealt with it felt rude and unprofessional. The room I eventually got was in poor shape. The toilet wouldn't flush properly, the water kept stopping, and the bathroom was far from clean. Overall, cleanliness was below Hyatt standards. I also specifically needed a microwave and asked for one right away. I confirmed my name and room number with staff by phone, but had to ask three or four more times, including in person at the desk, before it arrived 2.5 hours later. Then I was told the delay was because I'd given the wrong room number, which was completely false. They had confirmed my name and room directly. It was frustrating and insulting, and I never got an apology. The service felt careless, rude, and dishonest, and I left with no trust in a hotel I once thought was great. I hope Hyatt management takes this seriously. This location no longer feels like the Hyatt quality I used to appreciate.

The location by the water is excellent, with nice restaurants around it, and the hotel was clean and beautiful. What impressed me most was the staff. Deshawn at the front desk wasn't sure about the answer to my question, but after I went to dinner she went out of her way to find me and give me the information. It's a small thing, but that kind of kindness and care is unusual. Kudos to her.
