Golden Kent Motel

The beds could be more comfortable, but I liked being able to cook a meal, and the deep sink is great. The shower is better than at other places I've stayed, and this is the first place I've been where the toilet doesn't flood. I do wish there were a spot for a hand towel. The rack on the bathroom door is also damaging the top of the doorway.

It felt more like a studio than a motel, and it was clean with a great vibe. Jay, the gentleman at the front desk, was really friendly and helpful. He was accommodating and even lent us a phone charger. Great service. I'd stay here again.

The lobby plants are a nice touch, and the staff seem friendly enough, though they don't really start conversations or pry. The place itself looks dreary and easy to overlook. The guests seemed like regulars, and were loud and staring out the windows. Our room was freezing, with heat that wouldn't go very high. The bed frames didn't fit the mattresses, and the water took forever to warm up, if it warmed at all. The only supplies were two small, cheap bars of soap and two plastic cups. For less than $100 a night, it's not terrible for the area.

I stayed there for over a week because it was right down the street from the hospital, and it was quiet most of the time. With illness in the family, it took me a few days to realize I'd left a brand-new king-size self-inflating air mattress behind. But when I contacted them, I was told I hadn't left it. I don't think anyone would normally leave a brand-new mattress behind unless they had medical issues, as I did. I paid over $100 a night for two rooms, which wasn't bad, but I wish I weren't out $150 for the mattress.
