Holiday Inn Express Glen Rose by IHG

The pool and hot tub ended up being a real highlight for the whole family, even though I don’t usually think of those as a big part of a hotel stay. Coffee was another nice perk for me: the lobby decanters stayed full all day. The next morning, Adrian in the dining area was just as welcoming as the rest of the team, and Darla at the front desk had made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. She really seemed to care that we had a good stay. The grounds were spotless, and the mural on the fence and fall decorations by the entrance gave the place a homey feel. We had a great experience at Holiday Inn Express in Glen Rose, and I’d put it among the best Holiday Inn Express stays I’ve had. I can’t recommend Holiday Inn Express Glen Rose enough.

My hand is hurting badly right now, and that’s why I can only give this place one star, even though a lot of things about the hotel are nice. When I arrived, I’d unplug the alarm clock. On Sunday at 6 am, it went off in my room and in the room below and next to me at the same time. I injured my hand dealing with it. The rooms were okay, and hotels nearby cost less and don’t have an alarm clock to unplug or, as I suspect happened here, silly staff games that cut your stay short. I’m worried about what else the cleaning staff might do.

We’d be glad to stay here again. Our room stayed fresh thanks to the housekeeping, and it was clean. The shower was excellent, and the staff were very polite and friendly. We also had a good time in the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was the one letdown since the pancake machine was out of order while we were there. There are plenty of places nearby to eat in the morning, though, so it wasn’t a dealbreaker.

I stay in hotels for work almost year round, and although the rooms here are nice and clean, I wouldn’t recommend this place for the price. They limit the AC to 66, and after working in the heat all day, the room still wouldn’t cool down enough to feel comfortable. I ended up buying a small fan to help.
