The breakfast was just okay. It was mostly premade egg white omelette things and turkey sausage, not very flavorful, and the potatoes tasted microwaved. It felt like health food from the 1980s. I’d like to see the food updated. The rest of the experience was good value and friendly, accommodating service. The rooms were clean and had what I needed, and the beds were very comfortable. I appreciate that Holiday Inn labels its pillows as firm or soft. The workout room was nice too, though one piece of equipment was damaged. After I mentioned it to the desk, staff seemed ready to sort it out and were glad I’d pointed it out. This was a good example of a Holiday Inn Express.

The continental breakfast buffet was very good, with plenty of different options, and I can’t imagine anyone not finding something they like. The beds in our room were comfortable too. I did have a few annoyances: the chair at the desk wasn’t comfortable for relaxing, and the bed was so high I couldn’t easily sit on it. My son and I both tried to use the TV remote, but couldn’t figure it out. There wasn’t even an obvious volume button. And the bathroom had bar soap for handwashing. I haven’t seen that in 30 years, since most public places and homes have liquid soap.

The staff were all very friendly, and the hotel and rooms were very clean. There’s a good-sized pool and a nice workout room. Breakfast was good too.

The room was clean and adequate, and breakfast was acceptable and included at no charge. But I got absolutely gouged on the price. I’m loyal to Holiday Inn Express and belong to its loyalty program, but that didn’t help at all. If I hadn’t been in a rush, I’d have looked for a better deal at a competitor.
