La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kerrville

The staff were wonderful and attentive, breakfast was great, the shower felt warm and soothing, and the pool and hot tub were sweet. The fitness center should be open, though. Room 214 smelled funny and could use some fragrance, and the mattress was old and worn. The springs felt like granite, so I didn't fall asleep until 3:00 in the morning. I also heated a TV dinner in the microwave, but its turntable didn't work, leaving the middle cold and the sides hot. Time for a new microwave. Great service from the employees, but that mattress and microwave need to go.

We chose this hotel because we had our dog with us and the pet fee was reasonable. The room was clean and good, with a comfortable bed, and the front desk clerk was friendly and checked us in quickly. The elevator took us to the third floor on our first ride, but later it stopped working when my husband was taking the luggage carrier downstairs and going to get something he'd forgotten. We were told it sometimes has trouble. It worked for the rest of our stay.

The common area looked clean and welcoming, and breakfast was good. Our king suite, however, was so musty I could barely stay in it; I really needed an air freshener. We booked it for the extra pull-out bed, and that was disgusting. During our two nights, housekeeping barely did more than pull the beds up and take out the trash. I've had good experiences with the La Quinta brand, but this location didn't meet my expectations.

I was there for four nights on a business trip and had to change rooms because the first one had mold you could actually see on the ceiling, along with a foul smell. Aleta was kind and friendly, and helped me move. The second room was much better. It was an okay stay overall, and I understand it's an old building.
