Jefferson at Isabel's was a standout during our six-night, seven-day stay. He was a skilled, professional bartender and a terrific host, sharing Key West history and personal experiences that made us love the place even more. He also made me a few special, high-quality drinks for my birthday. The poolside bar includes a welcome drink and breakfast, and coffee, tea, water, and ice are available around the clock. Breakfast, included until 10am, had bagels, toast, pastries, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and tomato and mozzarella bites, with a small menu available to buy from. The heated pool is small but has enough chairs, loungers, tables, and umbrellas for breakfast and relaxing. Weekend musicians add some light entertainment. You can buy a directional signpost at Isabel's, paint where you’re from, and have it put up. We walked everywhere from the Lighthouse Hotel. It’s a block from Duval Street, about a 10-minute walk to the Butterfly experience and the Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S. for a photo with the famous buoy, and about 15-25 minutes to the Aquaruim, Mallory Sq, The Sunset Peir, and JBs Shrimpboat Sound Recording Studio. Fort Zachery Fort and beach are about a 25-minute walk away. The hotel is quaint, dog friendly, and tropical, with palms and greenery, plenty of intimate shaded places to sit, and no designated dog areas. Our thimble room had a cute nautical feel and was clean and comfortable, but small and dated, with a mattress much too firm for me. The lampshades were a little dusty and the air felt damp. Outside were nice-looking but uncomfortable chairs, plus very comfortable hammock-style swing chairs. All the staff were amazing. The woman who checked us in and out was friendly, informative, personable, and funny, and the evening gentleman with the cute dog was very nice. The behind-the-scenes kitchen staff served a clean, high-quality, tasty breakfast. Housekeeping promptly brought towels and service when needed, and replaced a broken hand soap dispenser. My only complaint was finding my CPAP mask face down on the floor one late evening, though I’d left it tucked behind my pillow. Even with these small issues, I rate our vacation at the Light House Hotel five stars. Thank you from Boston, MA.

We love this bungalow. It’s a quiet place, apart from the roosters you hear all over Key West, and sits across from the Hemmingway House with excellent restaurants close by. The pool bar serves a nice continental breakfast and great drinks in the afternoon and evening. Staff are fun and helpful.

I keep returning to the Lighthouse Hotel because it’s reliable and well placed for exploring Key West. The Hemingway House is right across the street, and it’s easy to walk everywhere. Staff are always welcoming and helpful. Live music at the pool and bar adds a nice atmosphere without getting loud or chaotic. It isn’t a five-star resort, and it doesn’t pretend to be, but it covers what you need.

The property itself was pleasant, with a nice pool and bar, a good continental breakfast, and very nice, accommodating staff. It’s directly across from the Hemingway House, but there’s no parking except on the street. My room was another story: the floor felt uneven and soft enough that I worried I’d fall through. The bathroom had few basics, no face cloths, and just one towel hook. The TV cabinet drawers wouldn’t shut, and the TV sat crooked inside. It smelled musty and run-down, though maybe it was just that room. Nothing special.

The rooms are very clean, and the staff are phenomenal. There’s a great pool area, and you can walk easily to just about anywhere from this well located spot. It’s one of Key West’s best hidden gems. My one small gripe is that the rooms are very small. Otherwise, it’s perfect.
