Southernmost Point Guest House

I regret booking here. We stayed in room 2, the South Beach Deluxe King Room, beside the lobby, and it was the most unpleasant vacation I’ve had. Loud music played just five feet from the room every day from 11 to 7, something they never disclosed. It made spending time in the room awful. We told both the bar and lobby staff about the volume. The bar staff were extremely rude, and the lobby staff didn’t respond. I’d emailed ahead to say it was a birthday, had flowers delivered, and bought champagne, but check-in was cold and impersonal. No one acknowledged any of it or mentioned the birthday. When I said I’d had trouble finding parking, the woman at reception was quite rude, saying, “that’s wrong” when I explained I’d gone into the wrong driveway. I knew that, and was asking because of it. Maybe it was because we were two women married to each other. People were definitely chilly to us, though perhaps they’re just rude to everyone. We asked for the room to be cleaned at 8 am while we were out for a few hours. When we returned at 1 pm, they said they prioritize rooms for guests checking out. They don’t turn over our room daily, so we took out our own garbage. I’d think current paying guests should be a priority, but what do I know. Staff were rude from check-in to the bar next door. This isn’t a place to stay if you want to relax. To be clear, I’m not saying the business owner is anti-LBGTQ. I’m struggling to understand the cold treatment from the staff. The owner called me, and I’ll call back during working hours next week.

Stayed here for a week. Great location on the quiet end of Duval, a nice room, good housekeeping, and a great breakfast included. The free drink per guest each day was a nice perk. The spa pool was great on chilly days, and there’s a small beach one block away.

We liked staying on this end of Duval Street. It’s quiet, with beautiful gardens and tables and chairs around the property, yet a block from the beach and easy to reach Duval. Mallory Square is about a mile away on foot. Each day we got a coupon for a free drink at the Southernmost Point Bar. Our room was clean and well appointed, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They rent bicycles for a small fee. Breakfast was included every day. It was basic, but enough to tide us over and get the day started. I’d gladly stay here again next time I’m in Key West.

The location was great, and I liked being able to sit outside in the garden. My room was small, though, and I couldn’t open the window or the blinds without other guests being able to see inside. It felt like a room just for sleeping. Breakfast was typical American fare and didn’t compare with European breakfasts. The price felt too high for what was offered, though that seems to be the case all over Florida.
