The Marker Key West Harbor Resort

We stayed at this property with my family, and the service felt consistently cold, dismissive, and unhelpful. Front desk interactions seemed entirely transactional, and the staff came across as entitled and unprofessional. At checkout, we were about 20 minutes past the checkout time. Rather than giving us a reasonable grace period, the housekeeping manager forcefully knocked and banged on our door and another room, even though children were present. It was aggressive and inappropriate, and caused significant distress. My mother experienced anxiety afterward. I’ve traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and this kind of behavior is highly irregular and unacceptable. After we checked out, I was shown a specific total, but another $50 was charged later without being disclosed in advance or getting my consent. When I asked about it, staff said they didn’t know about the charge themselves. That reflects poor internal controls and a lack of transparency. I run an Airbnb business, and this conduct falls far below basic hospitality standards. I can’t recommend this property. Guests who want respectful treatment, professionalism, and clear communication should look elsewhere.

This was my third visit, and prices have shot up while service has gone downhill. The poolside bar staff are the only saving grace. For what I paid, I could’ve stayed in the Mediterranean. I’d look at other options. I won’t be back.

The location is great for getting to the best of Key West, and the room was nice. Just be aware that some rooms face a restaurant and bar that plays loud music outside late into the night. If you want a quieter setting before 11:00 pm, check with the hotel first.

The marina location was the best part for us, since it made getting to all our boating activities easy. We stayed at the marker for five days. The room was clean and had daily room service, the beds and pillows were very comfortable, and the pool was nice, with regular activities and a daily drink special. We had an end room near the main elevator and worried it might be noisy, but it wasn’t at all. The staff were all very kind and ready to help. My only complaint is that there were no microwaves in the room or anywhere else, which was a pain when we had leftovers. A small inconvenience in an otherwise good stay.
