The staff at Brightwild got quick fixes sorted when we needed them. During an unseasonably cold start to our four night stay in the Deluxe Queen room in late February, the heat wasn’t working. One quick note brought us a space heater. When the sink stopped draining, one quick message got a repair crew and parts right over. The beds were very comfortable, with plenty of pillows and down comforters. The small pool is heated and has lots of sun chairs, and George’s bar on site serves a delicious Key Lime Martini. The location is ideal, one block from Duval St and a short three block walk to the ferry terminal to Dry Tortugas. Built in 1869, the building is aging, but it’s clean and well kept. The main mansion has several rooms showing what it looked like in its heyday. Curry Mansion is a great hotel and worth a stay.

The location is great, close to the action on Duval, and it’s a beautiful historic hotel. But the problems were far beyond what we could tolerate, especially with the very high room prices. We’ve stayed in historic hotels before. We booked Curry Inn for a 2020 trip, then the pandemic pushed it back to early 2026. Ownership seems to have changed in the meantime, and we assumed things would be the same without checking recent reviews. That was our first mistake. There was no staff on site apart from a bartender, who couldn’t help with room issues. Parking was scarce and confusingly marked with tow away signs, and there was nobody to ask whether spaces were legitimate. Neither of the first two emails included our door code, though management texted it fairly quickly after we reached out. The heat only blew cold air during record cold weather. We found a space heater and ran it constantly, while other guests had no such device and were very cold. Around midnight on the first night, a fire alarm blared for at least 20 minutes as firetrucks and fully geared firemen searched the hotel. No employees were around to turn it off. It happened again the next afternoon at 6pm, but was easier to walk away from then. The place seemed to be getting no maintenance: paint inside and outside looked rough, our wooden shutters were falling apart, the sink leaked chronically, and hot water came only after running it for over 10 minutes. Old buildings can have HVAC and water quirks, but this was too much. Sorry to say, I wouldn’t recommend Curry Inn to anyone.

The pool was a nice perk and the location is ideal, but the service level was very poor. There’s no staff on site for check in, arrivals, or problems, and nowhere safe to leave luggage while waiting for the door lock to work right at check in time. The room was nice, though our friends had ants and other guests had an infestation. If you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Some reviews here are inaccurate: breakfast isn’t included, and a one inch quiche costs ten dollars. I paid in full at booking but never got a confirmation email. On check in day I called 12 times to find out if my room was ready. Nobody answered the phone or emails, and communication with the hotel was terrible. If the price feels worth it for the great location, go ahead, but know what kind of service to expect.

George's, the bar on site, makes the absolute best spicy margaritas. The room was really nice and spacious, with everything we needed, and the location near Duval was perfect. Communication with the staff was great too. I’ll stay here again on my next visit.

Really pretty inn in a nice location, but the beds had such deep pits in them, as you can see in the photo. You’d think they’d replace them once in a while. The pool needs resurfacing too, and the place is falling into disrepair. The exterior looks good, but inside things aren’t great. There were no amenities.
