The Mermaid & Alligator

We loved everything about the alligator and the mermaid. Our room was cozy and clean, and they even left some sweet treats for Valentine’s Day. The staff were so kind and helpful, and they’d thought of all the little details.

The M&A is a lovely place, and we’ll gladly return. The staff were gracious and went out of their way to help, share recommendations, and answer questions. We stayed in the magnificent Royal Poinciana for several days and really enjoyed the relaxing space and superior service. While we were there, we had couples’ massages onsite and took a recommended kayak trip through the mangroves.

We were celebrating our 60th birthdays while exploring Key West, and couldn’t have chosen a more relaxing, welcoming place. The room was lovely, the breakfasts were delicious, and we enjoyed the happy hours, beautiful grounds, and terrific staff. The champagne and chocolates we’d requested were waiting in our room when we arrived, and were perfect. The B&B is a comfortable walking distance or bike ride from Duval Street, but far enough away from its hubbub. They also offer bike rentals onsite. Thank you all for a lovely stay!

We stayed two nights in December, and the heated pool was a lovely way to relax after exploring Key West. Our Key Lime room was small but had what we needed, and the king bed and pillows were comfortable after a long drive. Larger rooms are available in and outside the main house when booking. Breakfast changes day to day. We had waffles with berries, which were nicely made, and there were also basics like oatmeal, fruit, and coffee. The woman serving breakfast was kind, and the staff were available when we needed help. There was enough room around the property to walk a bit, too. Parking is limited, so you may need to find a nearby street space, though that didn't seem too difficult. One thing that could be clearer: if you arrive after hours, call or email ahead for entry instructions. We had to phone to learn that ours were in the mailbox outside the lattice door, which was confusing at first. The area is walkable, with a CVS and grocery store nearby. We had a pleasant stay and would recommend it if you're after a comfortable bed and breakfast in Key West.
