Tumi's Time Out by Avantstay Heart Of Old Town w/ Shared Pool Month Long Stays Only

We booked one night back in May, but bugs were all over the bathroom and on the bed, so we couldn’t stay. We called the main number and left several voicemails before anyone answered. They told us to contact the third-party booking site for a refund. I submitted a claim with photos of the bugs, but after three months the booking site still couldn’t reach anyone at the property. They eventually told me to file a claim with my credit card company. It was an awful experience, and I can’t stress enough that you should not book this property.

Expedia emailed to say I needed to contact the manager 24 hours before check-in, so I tried by phone and email. No one replied to my email, and calls went straight to voicemail. I left several messages, but got no response on check-in day either. Expedia ended up booking my family and me into a much better resort. Afterward, we read reviews saying this happens often. Stay away!

Inside unit 924, the toilet barely flushed, there was no hot water, the shower pressure was low, and none of the outlets in the only bedroom worked. We also had to pay $45 for off-site parking that only let us leave the car until 2am. On-site parking wasn’t available, and when we called both numbers, a woman was rude and said parking wasn’t guaranteed and our only option was to look on the street. The street was extremely crowded with little to no parking. Communication was a mess from the start. We arrived at 2pm to look at the place before our 3:30 check-in, but had no access instructions and no one answered the number we had. There was no office on site. We found a maid who gave us a different main office number that wasn’t listed online. At first, we were told access details would arrive by email around 2:30, so we parked elsewhere and explored the city. When we returned at 3:30, the unit still wasn’t ready until well after 4. The door was unlocked, with cleaning staff inside who didn’t speak English. This ruined our vacation. Avoid the place; I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The biggest issue was that there wasn’t a smoke detector anywhere in the unit. The smart lock didn’t work either, so the property was left completely unlocked before check-in. On top of that, the air conditioner barely worked, the toilet was almost unusable because it would hardly flush, and there was a bad smell from the bathroom. This was the worst booking of my life, with problems from the moment I checked in. I texted the number in the itinerary to say I was leaving and wouldn’t finish the stay. He didn’t reply until the next afternoon and refused to refund me. Please do yourself a favor and don’t book with this company.
