Seabrook Island by Wyndham Vacation Rentals

We had to move to another place on the island for the rest of our stay, which was a huge hassle with little kids and all our belongings. Wyndham didn’t seem to care or try to make up for the trouble, and I won’t use them again when we visit. We’re currently on Seabrook Island for a week-long beach vacation, and had rented what seemed like the perfect unit for our family. The kitchen pantry, which also held the washer and dryer, had mold all over its walls. I reported it to the office, and they sent a maid to clean it that afternoon. Our nine-month-old and four-year-old both started having bad allergies, so we kept watching the area. The mold was back the next day. I called again, and they said they’d send someone to clean it, though that clearly wasn’t working. We were in Charleston that day, and apparently staff discovered a leak. When we returned, workers were in the unit, and nobody had told us they would be there. With our belongings inside, I didn’t feel safe having people come in while we were out.

We stayed at 4117 Night Heron, where spiders, the smell of bug spray, and a master bedroom heater that didn’t work properly were problems. Afterward, my wife went to her doctor to confirm that the marks on her arm were spider bites. We told Wyndham about these and other issues when we left, but they did nothing. They didn’t seem to care.

The properties are well managed, though each rental is different, so it’s best to look through them and see what suits your needs. I’ve been a Whyndam Resort member for years and haven’t had a problem at any location worldwide. I’m not sure why some people give one star. Everyone can have their opinion, though some people expect everything for nothing and can’t be satisfied no matter how hard you try.

Wyndham lets maintenance workers enter your rental without telling you. That felt unprofessional and scary. If you rent from them, you should know this.
