Aloha AKU - Honu 1

The beach was just a few steps down from our condo and felt almost private. When we went, there was only one other couple there. Soft sand and shade trees made it a perfect place to relax. The view from the water-side unit is hard to beat, with the surrounding islands right there. We loved our stay in Aloha Aku's D227 rental unit. Walking in, we were struck by the lovely condo, wall art, and thoughtful extras: beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and a fully stocked kitchen. We didn’t cook, but bought local fruit and banana bread and ate on the balcony each morning. The bed was comfortable and the TV easy to use. We’d recommend it and stay again if we return to Maui. For souvenirs, the Kihei flea market is only about 2 minutes away and has the same Hawaiian-made gifts as the store for a lot less. And Uluani's down the road has powdery soft shaved ice, the best on the island.

The apartments had everything we needed, including air conditioning, fans, a fridge, kitchen, coffee, beach shoes, snorkeling gear, and bikes. Definitely use the beach shoes: my wife stepped on a sea urchin because we hadn't thought about that possibility. It wasn't truly dangerous, but it was unpleasant. We were island-hopping in Hawaii and had an amazing stay at Aloha Aku. The place is right by a gorgeous beach with breathtaking sunsets every evening, and parking was easy. Markets and restaurants were close enough to walk to in about 10 minutes, a big plus even though having a car in Hawaii is highly recommended. The apartments face the ocean. This was our best stay in Hawaii. Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality!

The lanai sunsets quickly became part of our nightly routine. The apartments are comfortable and have A/C, plus thoughtful things like beach bags, chairs, and a luggage scale. Free washers and dryers are available, and there’s a plunge pool to cool off in. The ocean is only steps beyond it. The property sits back from the road, so it feels secluded and private even though it’s right in Kihei, close to loads of good restaurants and beaches. This is so much better than a hotel, like staying at a friend’s house.

We rented all four single units for our family, and it was the best shared location we’ve ever had. We could all be together while still having our own space, and everything was so convenient we barely needed the car. The common area is a great idea, and we really appreciated it. The staff couldn’t have been better. My husband and I have been enjoying Aloha Aku for fifteen years, but bringing the family made this one of our most memorable visits. We’re grateful for the time there and hope to do it again someday. Thank you all!
