Kamaole Nalu 305 - Breathtaking Ocean Views, Renovated, Ocean Front, Split AC!

The unit was nicely stocked, and they did their best to provide what we needed for the beach. Still, there are better places in Maui. We were told the condo was available for three more days, so we asked for a late checkout to arrange our flights and considered extending our trip. Then we were told it was fully booked, even though availability still appeared online. They weren’t very accommodating for late flights. We understand late checkouts can inconvenience housekeeping, but lying about availability to avoid offering one is weak and embarrassing. You shouldn’t have to lie to guests. I guess we’ll try the place down the street.

We could snorkel right out front and saw turtles and other sea life, and Kamaole 2 was an easy walk away. The lanai was also great for catching both sunrise and sunset. Stores, restaurants, and gear rentals are just across the street, so getting around for island activities was easy. The managers were quick to help whenever we needed something, and it was lovely meeting them and the owners. The condo had everything we needed. It does get warm inside without AC, so we managed the airflow and used the portable fans. We can't wait to come back.

We shared a ground-floor, two-bedroom condo with our daughter and son-in-law and loved the location. There were so many places within walking distance. In the evenings, turtles came to feed along the lava rock shore right in front of the condo, which was amazing. The place was clean and lovely. The parking lot is pretty small and tight, so that's why I gave it four stars.

The best thing was the location. Kamaole Beach II is right next door, Whaler’s general store and Coconuts restaurant are across the street with other shops, and OGG is about 15-20 minutes away. The sunset view from the back of the property was beautiful. The building feels dated. Staff were rarely on site, the pool and elevator are both small, and the elevator was slow. There was no luggage cart for anyone who needed help carrying bags. Parking was a ridiculous joke, especially with an SUV or pickup. Only 6-7 spots are designated for larger vehicles, and even those are really suited to an economy or full-size car, so good luck. The unit we had was dusty, dirty, and moldy, with roaches and tiny ants in every room. Some units may be nicer, but if yours is near the elevator, odors from the trash chute can be repugnant when trash is taken out. Keep the living room windows closed or you'll throw up. It was rancid. If I were homeless and only came back to the unit passed out drunk, I might consider staying here again. Otherwise, I'll pass.
