The one thing I loved was how close the property is to the beach. An early morning walk there was magnificent. But after staying here, I know why Airbnb usually isn't for me. As soon as I opened the door, I wanted to run back to the rental car and look for a Marriott. The condo smelled like an old building that hadn't been touched in years, and felt completely lifeless. We arrived so late that first night there was nothing I could do to get comfortable for the next four days. I slept under my airplane blanket, hoping I wouldn't wake up with cellulitis all over my body. The next morning we went shopping, and I bought Clorox, Tide, bleach, Glade plug-ins, Mr. Clean unstoppable multisurface cleaner, and candles. Then I cleaned the place myself. The bathroom reeked of urine. I scrubbed the floors on my hands and knees, wiped the kitchen floors, counters, and refrigerator, and I'll post a pic of the paper towel I used on the fridge. I soaked six glasses, four plates, four forks, and four knives in dish detergent and bleach. Those were the only dishes we used. I also washed four towels and all the bedding. The place wasn't being cleaned adequately, just the bare minimum by the cleaning people. The bathroom sink kept clogging, so I had to plunge it. And the king bed was actually two twin mattresses, so if you're sharing it with your spouse, don't sleep too close or you'll start sinking in the middle. Maybe others can handle it, but I couldn't. Bring cleaning supplies and candles if you stay here, or pay extra for a four- or five-star hotel by the water. Marriott Wailea Beach Resort is very nice. I went to a luau there and was impressed.
