The worst part of our stay was how the front desk treated my husband. He stepped outside with friends while they smoked cigarettes, then got a call soon after he returned to the room accusing him of smoking weed there. He clearly said that hadn’t happened, but the staff member kept insisting the whole floor smelled like marijuana. None of our friends received a call. My husband was the only person of color in the group, and he felt singled out and racially profiled. We agree. The accusation was baseless, insulting, discriminatory, and completely unprofessional. We’d stayed at this property several times before, but this was our last visit. During our Thursday to Sunday stay, we found a roach crawling on the ceiling the first night. The refrigerator had no temperature control and froze the sandwich meat and cheese we’d bought for lunch, ruining our food and making us spend money on meals we hadn’t budgeted for. Our key cards kept failing, so we went downstairs more than three times to have them reactivated and eventually needed two new cards to get into the room. Between the roaches, the appliance problems that cost us money, and the discrimination, this level of neglect and disrespect is unacceptable for paying guests. I hope upper management takes these issues seriously.

As I was packing to leave, a rooster was wandering around its territory in the neighborhood across the street. How cool is that? The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the woman at the desk was friendly and helpful. She also pointed me to a fun local place to eat, The Back Porch. It was a great stay.

We walked over to Chili's for dinner since it was really close. The room was very large and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed breakfast and the complimentary beer in the lobby on the night we stayed. Since we’re in the Kilgore area often, I hope the hotel can use this feedback to improve. It was undergoing renovations, so I understand things might not have been usual, and for one night it wasn’t too bad. Still, the pillows were all throw pillow sized and made sleeping uncomfortable. The towels were different shades of white and beige, which was a bit off putting, and the old shower head looked slightly moldy with a lot of calcium buildup. Later, I spotted a live baby cockroach on the nightstand as I was getting ready to sleep. I had left an open soda can there for a few hours, but since we were on the top floor and renovations had just happened, finding it was confusing. I didn’t complain, since these things can happen anywhere.
