The rooms are on the small side, as you'd expect from a classic OBX motel, but ours was freshly renovated, spotless, and smelled nice. The bathroom was lovely and the king bed was really comfortable. Parking might be snug with a full-size truck, though our small SUV fit fine. Great value for a hidden gem. We'll be back for another weekend.
Loved the logo, they should sell merch! It was our first stay and we'd definitely return. Room 18 faced the beach road, so there was a little noise, but we still slept fine. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the towels and shower were great. Next time we'd try room 17.
The kindest part of the stay was the cleaning staff, who were super helpful when we asked for basics like toilet paper. The rest was a real disappointment. Our family came from across the state for our first Outer Banks visit and stayed in the Big Kahuna Suite. The apartment-style room had a strong stench that never went away, and the carpets, couch, and bedding were stained and filthy. The kitchen also didn't match how it was shown in the photos. After a long drive, arriving to that was awful, especially for what we paid. Service and toiletries were minimal, parking was tight for a family car, and the Wi-Fi kept dropping out and often warned that it wasn't secure. The location wasn't terrible and access was easy, but that was about the only upside. I wouldn't spend my hard-earned money here.
The room was tiny, but nicely redone and had the essentials. Nothing fancy, just really clean. Parking could be tough if you're driving a large vehicle.
After a good first visit, the cleanliness has gone downhill for us. On our second stay, the hard floor was so dirty that our feet turned black, and we had to clean it ourselves and wear sandals. This past weekend in Room 15, the floor was dirty again, and the bathroom baseboards and appliances were dusty. Coming back late from dinner, we couldn't find a single parking space because some guests had several vehicles. There should be a rule and overflow parking for people with more than three vehicles. We had to call the hotel's emergency number to ask where we could park, and finally agreed to use a handicapped space across from our room as long as they knew our car was there and wouldn't tow it. I couldn't sleep, worrying about what might happen to my car. The lot also has a serious drainage problem when it rains. We've stayed several times over the past few years, but with this and the other issues, this may be our last visit.
