Fairfield Inn by Marriott Killeen

The price was the main thing I appreciated at the Fairfield in Killeen: what I saw online was what I could actually plan for, and the final bill matched, apart from standard taxes that were clearly labeled. There were no vague “recovery” fees or surprise extras to question or correct. That kind of straightforward pricing made the stay feel fair and predictable, which matters when budgeting travel. The hotel isn't luxury and had a slight musty feel, but it delivered what it advertised without hidden costs. That consistency builds trust, and you don't have to double-check the folio or chase charges afterward. Five stars for transparency.

Rooms were dated and dirty, the lobby didn't feel welcoming, and when problems came up in the room, staff didn't deal with them quickly or effectively. Management refused to take appropriate action, which only made things worse. This was genuinely one of the worst Marriott BONVOY properties I've stayed at. I've been hovering between Platinum and Titanium status every year, so that should say plenty. Zero stars wasn't an option. I assume the property stays open because of the volume of military and government travelers nearby who have to stay under a set nightly rate. If you have a choice, I'd try another Marriott Bonvoy property in the area.

We stayed for three weeks, and everyone from the front desk to the housekeepers was great. The young woman who runs the kitchen was the best, though. I love her vibe, and you can tell she loves her job. From room 101, Mother caregiver.

Staff were helpful and friendly, and both check-in and check-out were quick and easy. The hotel was clean and well maintained, with visible security cameras. Breakfast onsite was acceptable, and IHOP is nearby if you want another option.
