Holiday Inn Express & Suites Killeen - Fort Hood Area by IHG

Every employee was so friendly and helpful, especially Dynasty. The hotel was wonderful, with clean rooms, comfortable beds, a nice gym, good internet, and good food.

The pullout couches were falling apart. They looked like they'd been pieced together from the trash, and the one in our second room had a broken frame. The queen beds in the suite were very comfortable, though. The AC and heating units need cleaning or replacing too. One smelled like mothballs and mildew, the other like cat pee. In our first room, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly after the previous guests, with hair in several spots in the tub. I also don't understand why clean towels were left on the back of the toilet instead of on a rack or by the sink. We stayed three nights during the week, two at the start and one at the end. Service was fantastic on the first two nights, but the morning worker had an attitude on the third. Breakfast was delicious, and the woman making it was sweet and friendly. She kept checking that we were okay and had what we needed. It wasn't a terrible stay, but it wasn't our best either.

The staff at this location were great, but the room smelled strongly of wet carpet. That should've been our first sign to make other arrangements. I figured they'd recently shampooed it because of the high turnover. Around noon the next day, we put air fresheners in the room to see if the odor would go away. When we got back at about 12:30 that night, there was a roach crawling around by the coffee bar. Staff couldn't move us to another room, so we went to a different hotel and didn't get to bed until around 3:30am. This place is long overdue for a full renovation. After this stay, along with other concerns at other locations, we won't consider the IHG brand anymore.

My wife arrived late for her reservation because her flights were delayed. She called ahead to explain, and they said it would be fine, but when she got there, there was no room. The front desk employee didn't seem to care about trying to sort anything out. For what these rooms cost, there should be a manager on duty at all times. The employee said his manager told him not to give out his name. Poor management at its best. I wish I could give half a star.
