My family had recommended this place, saying it used to be better, and it seems to have changed. We booked the deluxe king suite. It looked clean at first, but the maid hadn’t cleaned under the bed, and there was something on the comforter that looked like a dead bed bug. I can only hope the rest of it was clean. The pool was out of order, which is rough in the Texas heat. There was no breakfast, and apparently the restaurant is closed on Mondays. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The best part was the Neon Moon Restaurant down the hall. The food was really good, the service was great, and the owner keeps it clean and well run. Walking in felt like stepping into another world. Mr. David, who runs it, was great to work with for catering too. But make sure you go to the right place: the Sunrise Cafe is at the front desk, and we tried its food before realizing the restaurant was down the hall. We found the cafe’s food very disappointing. The Neon Moon Restaurant is the first door you see when turning off the main street. The hotel itself needs a lot of work. It advertises a continental breakfast, but charges extra for it, and it’s served in the lobby by the front desk. I’ve never had to pay separately for a continental breakfast outside the room fee.

The hotel looks dated and really needs updates, but the staff and service made our visit a very pleasant one. We were there with family during Thanksgiving week in 2025, and they accommodated early check-in for us and other guests. After a long drive, that was a big help. Check-in was easy, with friendly smiles, professional service, and staff who knew the hotel and its amenities. Linda? (GM) and the rest of the team went out of their way for us. They helped move us to a lower floor because we had our senior fur baby and wanted to be closer to outside activities. They also listened patiently when I passed along my husband's frustration about noise from small kids in the room above us early in the morning. The kids were enjoying their vacation, as they should. We ended up adding another day to our stay. There’s a gym, pool, restaurant with affordable family-friendly prices, lounge, and meeting spaces onsite. Our room was clean and very spacious, and the hotel was pet-friendly without any pet or accident smells. The grounds are large enough for a nice walk, with a small memorial park just a few steps from the parking lot. It’s close to major attractions, restaurants, and shopping, but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. Even when we came back late at night, we could always see staff around and attentive, which made me feel safer and more comfortable. My husband and I can see ourselves staying again. Owners, please put money into upgrades. I think you’d get a good return.

The bathroom ceiling had mold, and the room smelled like pets, which didn’t help with my allergies. We left for the Holiday Inn hotel on Fort Hood base after only 2-3 hours. They refunded the other four days, but charged us a full day for those few hours. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived, though we were 30 minutes early and didn’t mind waiting, so we visited the memorial outside. Once inside, we found crumbs in the freezer, a dirty sink, and two cups wrapped in cling film by the sink. One had some unknown liquid inside despite being covered. The hotel is outdated and dirty and needs renovation. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Mr. David, who runs the restaurant, helped with our wedding on Easter evening. He arranged Texas BBQ catering with dessert, plus a DJ and bartender. My relatives who came from out of town loved the food. The baker he recommended made the cupcakes I had in mind and cookies for our guests, and they tasted great.
