Breakfast was served on time each day and was consistently delicious. Our host, Stephen, was friendly, informative, and accommodating throughout the trip. The clean rooms and cheerful foyer make it easy to see why people flock to the Greenbrier Inn. Staying there feels like stepping into a wonderful time machine, the kind of cabin stay in the woods you hope for. Remember to ask about discounted lift passes. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to stay here, 5/5 stars. Thank you, Stephen!

Those little stuffed bears waiting outside each room were such a sweet touch. The Greenbrier Inn felt warm and homey from the start, and my room was spotless, fresh, and had a lovely winter smell. The staff and manager were kind, attentive, and full of helpful local tips about Killington. I’m already looking forward to coming back.

The Greenbrier Inn has a beautiful, welcoming feel, with owners who make you feel at home. Steve is down-to-earth and seems to live by the kind of values you wish everyone had. His wife Jen and her mother run the adorable country gift shop attached to the inn, packed with vacation souvenirs and all sorts of things to take home. The small staff are treated like family, and you can tell. If you want somewhere bougie, pretentious, and picture-perfect, this probably isn’t your place. But for genuine hospitality and owners who are kind and caring, it’s a lovely spot.

We were left to sort everything out ourselves, even though the owner said this kind of booking mistake happens three to four times a month. I booked through Expedia on 10/16 while we were in Bangor, Maine, intending to reserve the night of 10/17. Somehow the reservation was entered for 10/16, likely due to a system or input error. We didn’t discover it until we arrived at the Greenbrier on 10/17, and Steve told us we’d missed our reservation. We understand it was non-refundable and aren’t disputing that policy. We were asking for some basic understanding, especially after Steve acknowledged that this happens regularly. He said he’d assumed we made the mistake, but despite having our phone number and email, he never contacted us. When we asked why, he had no clear answer. There were no rooms available that night, so we had to scramble to find and pay for another hotel. We came back the next morning and asked if our payment could go toward that night’s stay, since Steve had said five rooms were available. He still refused unless we paid another half-price on top of what we’d already lost. Expedia also contacted him for us, but he wouldn’t give a partial refund. Steve was dismissive and defensive through the whole thing, and seemed more focused on blaming Expedia than taking even a small step to help someone who had made an honest mistake. When we raised it again, he just repeated that these errors happen all the time. If they’re that common, why not show some compassion or improve the system? We weren’t asking for the world, just fair treatment and some sign that guests matter as people, not transactions. That didn’t happen here.

That homey feeling made all the difference. The whole family welcomed me so warmly at the Greenbrier inn, and it felt real, not put on. My room was well cared for and spotless, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in on a trip. Such a relaxing stay. Whether you’re stopping by or staying longer, it’s a place where you can feel at home.
