Fairfield Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Valley Forge

Lawrence, the hotel manager, made us feel welcome right away and was incredibly kind and accommodating. Traveling with two children, one a toddler, can be a challenge, but he went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The staff were friendly, and the whole property felt clean and cared for. We came from Maryland for an overnight trip in late September and had a wonderful stay at Fairfield by Marriott Philadelphia Valley Forge King of Prussia. The location was ideal, just minutes from the King of Prussia Mall, so we could shop, get dinner, and return easily. Our room was quiet and cozy, just right for a short family visit. We’d definitely stay again next time we’re in the area.

Both times I stayed, the room was too hot or too cold, whatever we set the thermostat to. Most staff were rude and dismissive, and denied basic services more than once. One night manager said cleaning only happens every other day. At breakfast, don’t take more than a couple pieces of bacon unless you want a stare down from the skinny cook behind the counter. The north side of the building sounds like a racetrack at night. People travel for work or education, and good sleep matters. This place made for a rough week because of the noise and how it’s run. I did meet great people in Philly, though.

The room was comfortable, nice, and had the usual amenities. Check-in nearly fell through because I was under 21, even though I had booked and paid for it. Luckily, someone else in my party was old enough to check us in. If guests have to be 21 or older, that requirement should be clearly shown on the website during booking. I consider the rule discriminatory, even if it’s somehow acceptable. The front desk person wasn’t very helpful about it either.

The rooms, the staff, everything fell well below Marriott standards. Staff were incompetent, extremely rude, discourteous, and unprofessional, the worst hotel staff I’ve dealt with. If you trust Marriott properties and the brand, don’t trust this location. I’d rather sleep in my truck than stay here again, and I’d tell anyone to choose any other hotel. The recent negative reviews are the only thing you should trust. This place shouldn’t be a Marriott property at all.
