Days Inn by Wyndham King/Winston Salem Area

We were happy enough with our few nights here. The beds were comfortable, the water pressure was amazing, and we felt safe. Management was pleasant and helpful, and although the hotel has been around a while, it seemed well maintained. We were using it as a base for hiking, so it worked out great for the money.

The kind people serving breakfast were the one good part. The complimentary spread was only waffles and toast, though, and the amount they charged made the whole stay feel underwhelming. We’ve stayed in plenty of places, and this was the worst by far. We won’t come back. The room we were first given was filthy because it was a smoking room, which we hadn’t requested. The non-smoking room had stained sheets, and the comforter was so nasty we couldn’t sleep under it. Brown water came out of the tub. The toilet was the only thing that was even remotely clean, and we had to wipe it down with bleach. We went out for gas around 8:15-8:30 in the morning and got locked out when we returned. Checkout is usually 11 a.m. at other hotels.

Days Inn should be careful about letting places like this use its name. A stay like this can leave people thinking they’ll never book a Days Inn again. We couldn’t get the shower to turn on, and nearly pulled the whole faucet out of the wall trying. When we told the front desk guy, he said we had to go hard or call someone for help turning it on. That seemed crazy, so we went without showers.

The owner’s idea of acceptable probably won’t match yours. Everything felt gross and sticky. The door and furniture were broken, the shower wouldn’t drain, the bedding was worn out, and the pillows were ridiculous. Don’t stay here.
