The Herbert Grand Hotel was the highlight of my Sugarloaf trip. Everything about it has that time-travel feel, with fascinating history and a beautiful old interior that’s still original while updated where it needs to be. My room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom felt modern but still period-appropriate. Outlets are pretty sparse, so you may need to look around for one. The owners are wonderful and putting their own time and money into keeping the place going. If you like antiques, history, or just want somewhere unusual and nice to stay, I’d absolutely recommend it.

The owners were really nice, and the place was quite clean. I appreciated the mostly quality Delta plumbing fixtures. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, though it wasn’t the worst either. A few more amenities would help. If there’s no mini fridge in the rooms, an ice maker would be useful. The pub didn’t seem to be open during my stay, which was a letdown. The woodwork and decor are beautiful and very classic. I had an enjoyable stay and would recommend it.

We booked online and had no trouble checking in or out, or finding our way around town. It was our first visit to the Herbert Grand Hotel, and we loved its rustic Maine charm. The antique decorations won us over, especially the phone booths on the main floor. We brought our two pups, and the staff were cheerful and accommodating. We’d love to come back.

The staff were friendly, and the rooms were very clean. There’s a pool table in the lobby, surrounded by loads of old-timey decor. My room stayed nice and cool with its window air conditioner. The hotel was easy to find and close to both a restaurant and a gas station. I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m in the region.
