Motel 6 Kingsport, TN

For a Motel 6, this was surprisingly pleasant. I arrived at 2 a.m., got checked in quickly, and found the room clean. It had a retro 90s feel that I loved. The staff were friendly and the price was great. This beat the two more expensive hotels I stayed in during my two-week trip.

Stayed for a long weekend while working out of town. The rooms were nicely updated, and everyone was nice. It was quiet too, so I'd give them five stars. My one complaint is the pillows. We got four half-size, whatever-they-were pillows, and they were awful. The bed felt harder than beds at most places, though maybe better pillows would've helped. Lol. My only recommendation is to bring your own.

Great location, and if you need a fairly clean, budget-friendly hotel, this could work. I accidentally booked two twins, but the front desk changed it to a king. Since I had my dog with me, the clerk asked whether I'd prefer the first or second floor. The room and dog-walking area were just so-so. The bed was rock hard, the blanket as thin as the sheets, and the floor barely swept. The AC and heat unit was really loud, the tub fixtures were loose, and the water swung between 100 degrees and ice cold. Smoke from the next door weed smoker came through the paper-thin walls, and there wasn't much toilet paper. There's also nowhere decent to walk a dog without mud or dog mess.

We love our Motel 6 in Kingsport and always choose it for a great stay. The housekeepers keep the rooms fresh and clean, the desk staff are friendly and welcoming, and the coffee is fresh and good every morning.
