Hyatt House Richmond / Short Pump

Hyatt House has become my go-to when we’re back home. I’ve had date nights and ladies’ nights here, and every time has been amazing. It works for a quiet staycation with my partner or a fun weekend base with the girls. Right in the heart of Short Pump Town Center, you can shop during the day or head to a nearby restaurant for dinner. The rooms are spacious and modern, with a layout that feels more like a chic apartment than a standard hotel room. It’s a clean, minimalist space where you can relax, order in and enjoy a quiet evening. The atmosphere feels upscale but still comfortable.

We paid premium rates for a suite during what should have been a once-in-a-lifetime weekend, and the stay fell far below Hyatt’s service standards. I’d booked a premium suite for a full week directly through Hyatt with my corporate account as a Hyatt member, trusting the brand to make my Valentine’s Day weekend special. It was also the weekend of my engagement. Construction was active all around and above the suite. Noise started early in the morning and continued into the evening, making it hard to rest or enjoy the upgraded accommodations. We weren’t told at booking or check-in that construction would materially affect the guest experience. Water was shut off for extended periods on multiple occasions without notice, disruptive and unacceptable when running water is a basic amenity, especially on a weekend that required preparation and planning for a proposal. If we’d known about the shutoffs and construction, we would have made other arrangements. Most staff interactions lacked the hospitality I expected, particularly for a celebratory stay. A bearded gentleman and one female front desk associate were professional and kind. After I raised the issues, management said they would provide 16,000 Hyatt points as a service recovery, but the points were never deposited into my account. I’m still seeking a fair resolution and appropriate compensation. I hope Hyatt chooses to stand behind its brand promise.

Kalo made my stay truly enjoyable, and I greatly appreciated her going above and beyond. I had a problem with a third-party booking company, and she handled it calmly, professionally and with a real focus on customer service. She resolved everything seamlessly and showed genuine care and attention to detail. I had an excellent experience at Hyatt Hotels. Thank you, Kalo, for the outstanding service.

I was at Hyatt for a conference today. The lobby and bathrooms were immaculately clean, and there was ice water and cups in the room plus hot coffee in the lobby. The room was a nice size and the chairs were comfortable, though it was a bit chilly.
