Maingate Lakeside Resort

The room had a long list of problems: we’d booked a master but got double beds, the carpet was dirty, the bedding had stains, there was a blood splatter on the bathroom wall, and the toilet hadn’t been cleaned properly. The AC buttons were broken, the door latch didn’t work, and the coffee was expired with creamer solid as rocks. Breakfast didn’t match what was advertised either. On the first day there were bagels, toast, cereal, and fruit; on day two, just toast and fruit. Other guests mentioned a broken treadmill and lights that didn’t work. At check-in, I arrived ten minutes early and was rudely told to sit and wait. Then, after paying in full online, I was told there was another $60 resort fee. I usually don’t write negative reviews, but this time I had to.

The rooms were dirty, smelly, and outdated, and the condition was so bad I couldn’t stand being there even for a few minutes. I had to book another hotel right away. I’d booked through a third-party app, and staff first said they’d refund me once the app contacted them. When the third party followed up, the resort denied it and kept my money. That felt misleading and dishonest. Between the room and their refusal to honor what they’d promised, the place seemed unreliable and unprofessional. Don’t spend your time, money, or vacation here. Choose another hotel.

I really wish I’d researched more and paid extra for a better hotel. I booked through Priceline and had to pay $80 in resort fees. The hot tub shown in the photos is gone, it’s been concreted over. The whole place smells like weed, and smoke comes into the room as soon as you open the door. I’m here with my 13 year old son, so he’s been exposed to drugs without my choosing. Cable is awful, with blurry, distorted channels. The front desk person was nice, but that didn’t make up for the place itself. The online photos don’t show it accurately. It’s cheap and gross. Please take my warning and stay somewhere else.

Joleen checked us in during our 8/28-31/2025 stay and was very sweet. The location was handy, just five minutes from Island H2O, with plenty of restaurants nearby, including IHOP and Wendy’s. The photos on Priceline and the hotel site were very misleading. We were first given a room that was supposed to have a king bed, microwave, and fridge, but it had a double bed, a stain on the floor that looked like blood, and a moldy smell. They moved us to a king room, but the fridge didn’t work, there was no microwave, and some outlets were dead. The bed was a 2 out of 10. We had to ask for towels, the coffee was stale, and the sugar and creamer were hard. Breakfast was cereal, fruit, and bagels, not what they advertised. The first room’s supposed pool view looked out over a dirty, closed pool. Staff were nice, but loud music and at least eight kids in two rooms next door kept us up until around 5 a.m. The room phone had no buttons or plug, bugs were dead all over the AC unit, and the tub wouldn’t drain properly. I usually stay at Westgate, but tried this Priceline deal. You get what you pay for, I guess. I don’t think I’d stay again or recommend it unless someone only wants a cheap price.
