We've come here twice in a row since discovering this resort, and we love it. There's so much to do, the pools are heated, and the property is well maintained. I also like that you have to sign in at check-in, so random people don't get in.

We live in the Reflections neighborhood and visit the Hideaway Club Storey Lake pool often, especially when our children are in town. We value having the amenities so close, and it's a great setup, but our latest visit was disappointing. We had to pay for our pass, and my husband waited at the front desk for about 20 minutes while the staff member kept helping other guests instead of finishing his transaction. That was frustrating and could have been handled much faster. Rules and safety aren't enforced consistently. Some lifeguards at the slides are attentive, while others seem distracted by phones or headphones and don't make sure the area is clear before the next person goes down. We've also seen children throw landscaping rocks into the water, spill drinks in the pools, roughhouse, and toss balls. One guest brought a dog in a float into the lazy river. Staff said it was an emotional support animal, but it still raised concerns for us about cleanliness and pool safety. We know many people are on vacation and having fun, but residents pay a lot to use these amenities and should be able to expect more consistent, professional supervision. Better oversight and enforcement would make the experience more enjoyable for everyone.

I checked out the Story Lake resort clubhouse while my family was staying there. The grounds and clubhouse were very well maintained. The pools and lazy river had really warm water, even though it was about 60 degrees outside. There's a nice nine-hole miniature golf course surrounded by the lazy river, a good half-court basketball area, and a very nice spa.

The grounds are beautifully kept and would be great for morning walks or runs. The outdoor gym was okay, although two machines were broken. But the amenities and lack of privacy made our stay disappointing. We were a family of five and rented the biggest lake-view house Storey Lake offers for the larger pool, extra space, game room, and movie theater. Even those homes are very close together, so you can see everyone on their patios and in their pools. It felt uncomfortable. Security was a joke: the guard house was understaffed and people usually got in with barely any questions. The gate to the clubhouse was always open, and that building was understaffed too. People walked in and out unchecked. We went straight to the fitness center and nobody noticed. When we opened the door, the smell was horrific. The treadmills were outdated, dumbbells were missing, and the equipment was smaller than the pictures suggested. It also doesn't open until 9am, when you're already out for the day or enjoying your planned activity. We went to the pool, then came back to ask where mini golf was. The attendant questioned me and asked me to sign in, even though at least eight people had just walked past without being noticed. The pool area was so crowded you could barely see the water in the lazy river, let alone fit another person. We didn't even realize mini golf was in the middle of it because there were so many people. It was packed enough to turn us away, including my three boys. The pool was just as busy, and there should be a limit. The bar had just one attendant with 15-20 people waiting, so we walked right out. Note, all the pictures were taken around 7am, when very few people were out and the clubhouse was closed. It doesn't open until 9am.

We arrived at the clubhouse around 1:30 PM with a few baby food pouches and small coconut water bottles for our young children. Staff told us outside food and drinks weren't allowed, which we understood and were ready to take back to the car. The host at the front desk and the lifeguard were rude and disrespectful. The host spoke loudly and dismissively, then began taking things out of my sister-in-law's bag without permission. Just 15 minutes earlier, that same staff member had let my brother-in-law bring in the same baby food and simply asked him to “be discreet.” Since he speaks fluent English and my sister-in-law doesn't, the different treatment felt unfair and uncomfortable. We politely asked to be treated respectfully, but were ignored while guests who arrived later were helped first. It became so uncomfortable that we left. We have genuinely enjoyed our stay otherwise, but this clubhouse visit was extremely disappointing. Rules are understandable, but staff should still show basic courtesy, consistency, and professionalism with families and small children.
