Coachman Inn

The young man at the front desk was the highlight for me, so friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. We asked for three rooms and got exactly what we'd requested. The beds were comfortable. It's a bit dated, but clean and affordable.

The room was about average in size, and the bed was passable, though a few springs were noticeable and it seems due for replacement. The desk was nearly unusable until I moved the coffee pot, and the office chair was broken in a way that left me leaning back and hurting after a while. In the bathroom, only half the lights worked, there was a heater but no functioning fan, and the hot water ran out quickly, so two people couldn't shower one after the other without waiting. It looked worn, though it was clean, and had a funky smell that wasn't unbearable. At check-in, the person at the desk seemed busy on his phone, so we waited for another gentleman, who was friendly and quick. The continental breakfast was a letdown. The coffee tasted like it had gone through a dirty boot, and the only food choices were bread or cereal, with no fruit. That flavor in coffee usually comes from a machine that hasn't been cleaned properly. We picked this inexpensive place to try while we start visiting the area twice a year, and hoped for a decent stay. We chose it because of the price, but if you can manage it, spend a bit more at another hotel. We won't be coming back.

I like old roadside inns, and I have no complaints about the clean room. We were upstairs, and the layout was odd: you enter a small space with a fridge and microwave, the bathroom is off to the right, and the fairly spacious bedroom is through another door. A table and chairs in that first space might make it feel less like a strange closet. And, of course, good toilet paper matters too!

I usually don't write reviews, but this was gross. I checked into room #22 on Sep 29th 2025, my birthday, and found stains on the sheets. I was out of there in two minutes. Thankfully, Expedia refunded me and I found another place to stay. The refrigerator, microwave, and shower tub were dirty too, though those things pale next to the sheets. The bed had been made, so a housekeeper had apparently chosen not to change them. I have no words.
