The owners, Peter and Nancy, treated my husband and me so rudely that we left a day early. They say the place is pet friendly, but while you can bring a pet, expect criticism about how you care for it. They went into our room multiple times to check whether our dog was in his cage. They called to say he couldn't be left there while we were away. I tried to explain to Nancy that Logan loves his cage and sees it as a safe place, never a punishment, but they let him out anyway. On Sunday (8/6/17), we took Logan to the dog park for over 2.5 hrs., then brought him back so we could have lunch. After lunch, we went back to the room and took him for a 40 min walk. We left him in the room while we met my parents at the Country Music Festival at Red Hook Brewery. Before we left, the owner came out to ask how long we'd be gone, saying anything longer than 4 hrs was inhumane. I disagreed. Right on schedule, four hours after we left, they called because Logan had barked a few times and said we had to return. We came back, packed everything, and left. We'd paid for three nights but left after two. The bed was hard, the room crammed with crap, and there was no AC, just a fan. If you left the fan on, they came into the room and turned it off. Sheer curtains let in so much light that we couldn't sleep past 6 am. The property is run down and needs repairs, with an overgrown backyard, broken fence, and dog poop left all over the yard. I mention the poop because we were the only guests with pets. Without pets, it might be an okay place, but after this I would never stay again. The owners treated us like 16-year-olds who didn't know how to care for animals, even though we're in our 30s and know what our dog needs.

This was the most disgusting place I've ever seen. I didn't say stayed, because there was no way I was spending the night. We arrived and the owner, wearing a filthy t-shirt, showed us a room we stepped into briefly. As we were leaving for supper, he appeared out of nowhere and said he'd given us the wrong room, and would show us the right one when we got back. When we returned, he took us to a hideous pink bedroom. I wouldn't even take off my shoes. I put our bags on the bed and sat on the edge of the bathtub, which looked like the cleanest thing there, but refused to sit on the bed, let alone sleep in it. What seemed to be a closet had a huge hole in the ceiling, and I could practically see the next floor. We were there about 20 minutes. I cried and said I wouldn't stay, and my fiancée asked for our money back. The owner refused, even though we'd only been there 20 minutes. We'd booked out of necessity, and him asking for "cash" should have been a red flag. It's unfair and unacceptable. This place is filthy, run by untrustworthy people, and a disgrace. How can they call it a bed and breakfast? Do not stay here, ever.

We decided against staying after seeing the room. Nobody was there to greet us when we arrived Friday at 6 pm. The place looked run down, and the jacuzzi tub was in bad shape, with broken tiles and missing grout. It was supposed to be smoke free, but the hallways smelled of smoke. Cats roam freely around the property. That didn't bother us, but anyone with allergies should steer clear. It just didn't meet our expectations.

We packed up first thing in the morning and skipped our second night, after one of the worst stays I've had. We waited outside in freezing cold for 40 minutes and had to call before anyone answered the door. A cat was living in our room and cried outside the door all night after being removed. There was a crack in the door that people could see through, and it felt like someone could watch us. They could also see into the bathroom. The heating system groaned, banged, and whistled every few minutes all night. They may call it Victorian charm, but it needs service; that's not normal. They make it clear there are no refunds. I wonder why.
