Red Carpet Motel

The building looks a little odd from outside, and locals had warned me to stay elsewhere unless I was out of options. I was in town for a race, every other hotel was booked, so I checked the room and rented it right away. It was much better than I expected: clean, cool with the air conditioning already on, and close to the Hall of fame Museum and racetrack. I'd stay here as readily as at another hotel, and doubt they'd be as clean. I recommend it.

Knoxville Raceway is close enough to walk to, which is the main draw. The room was simple but had brand new carpet, and the coffee in the lobby was good. An older man on staff walked us to the room so we could find it more easily. The horseshoe-shaped layout made that a kind gesture. We had a fine stay and will come back.

The building is old, so don't let that put you off. Inside, the room had new carpet, air conditioning, a bed, and a refrigerator, and everything was very clean. The bed was comfortable too. Ragi was polite and helpful, showed us the room to check we were satisfied, and explained breakfast: muffins, toast, fruit, cereal, and hot coffee. I'd definitely stay again 🤪

The smell hit me before we even got to the room. The red carpet was musty and smoky, and by the time we walked down the hall my head was pounding. Anyone with allergies should avoid this place. We had asked for one bed, expecting a king instead of two queens, and booked at the rate they gave us. On arrival, the man said his wife had given us a really good deal and tried to put us in a tiny, cramped room at the back with a queen. A king would cost another $10.00 a night. We left and drove on rather than stay. We booked because of the good reviews, but I found this to be a moldy, smoky, old hotel. I wouldn't recommend it.
