Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Okmulgee by IHG

I’ll be staying in Ponca City next week, where they treat you well. My company sends us here two nights a week, but after nearly five hours waiting in the front lobby because they wouldn’t check us in before 3pm, I’m going to ask the company to find somewhere else. They don’t seem to understand service or loyalty. H.I.E. is usually high quality, but this one isn’t. If I’d had a choice today, I would’ve kept driving.

The price was decent, though the views weren’t great. I booked because I had a Dr's appointment, and the room doors wouldn’t shut all the way. The pool area also didn’t have the hot tub shown in the pictures, so we ended up switching to a room with a jacuzzi.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in a nice location, near the restaurants in town and several nearby towns. I’d stay again, but I’d ask for a different room or request a move if needed. Mine was on the first floor by the lobby, so breakfast noise and music, sometimes with singing, carried into the room. It wasn’t a huge deal unless you were trying to sleep. The room itself was tidy and seemed clean, but the shower covering was peeling, with a mat laid over most of the damaged area.

For what we paid, I expected a more comfortable, cleaner stay from a Holiday Inn. The remote didn’t work, a light flickered all night, and the phone was covered in an unpleasant sticky residue. When we reported everything, they said there was no discount or compensation because we’d booked online. I hope management takes the feedback seriously and makes improvements for future guests.
