Hampton Inn and Suites Kokomo

I’ve come back here countless times for work. The location is good and the rooms are clean, but Tracy is the reason I especially look forward to returning. She always greets me with a smile and has treats for my dog. When a youth football team staying there got unpleasantly loud, she stayed polite and professional with them while doing her best to keep the rest of us from being disturbed. She handled a tough situation with grace, and her kindness and professionalism really stand out.

The rooms are small and the decor feels dated. Staff weren’t helpful or friendly, and every request seemed to get a no. We asked if they could turn off the lobby fireplace because the common area was hot, and they said no. We also asked for checkout half an hour later and got another no. The pool has been closed for six months for repairs, but nobody was working on it. The exercise room is closet-sized, has no dumbbells, and one of its three machines was out of order.

The rooms were decent, and our large group was in town for a nearby tournament. The other staff were very nice, but the front desk person was extremely rude and had an attitude with people in our group over and over. The “manager,” if that’s what she is, shouldn’t be working in hospitality. This town hosts a big tournament every year, and we’ll recommend directly to the tournament that this hotel be taken off its list.

We’ve stayed at this hotel several times over the years while visiting family, but we’ll stay somewhere else from now on. Our granddaughters, who are 6 and 8, were excited to swim with us, since having a pool mattered to our trip. I don’t deceive people, and I don’t appreciate it happening to me over $95. I booked and prepaid on Jan 5th because our plans were firm. Three days later, when I went to the website to add another room, I found the pool was closed until July 2026 and had apparently already been closed for months. That closure wasn’t on the website when I booked. When I called, hotel staff agreed it wasn’t listed and thought it was probably due to the new year rollover. They told me to contact corporate. Corporate refused to refund the prepayment, even after I asked them to check with the hotel, which could verify what happened. I offered to forward my confirmation email showing no mention of the pool closure, but they didn’t care. The hotel said they’d contact corporate, then never replied.
