The front desk person apologized when we arrived and said one of my rooms wasn't available. We'd driven several hours, and nobody had contacted me about the room we'd already paid for. He offered a small discount and suggested switching one room to smoking, though we don't smoke. The discount barely counted once we found that both rooms smelled strongly and didn't seem very clean. My non-smoking room had dirty pillowcases, cigarette burns, paint missing in some spots and thickly painted over in others, plus an outdated AC unit. The sink clogged as soon as I ran water to wash my hands, and the bathroom was tiny, just a toilet and tub. There were piles of old mattresses in the parking lot. The Super 8 was under construction, but neither the website nor app mentioned that. We couldn't check in online and had to wait until we got there. The drive from east Texas took about 6.5 hours, including the last 2-3 hours at a slow 55 mph on a very narrow highway. I usually avoid motels because their quality feels like budget inns and other low-end places. This week I had no choice among America's Best Value, Econo Lodge, Super 8, Presidents Inn, Maple Terrace Inn, and Campbell Inn, so I gave Super 8 a try. I'm not happy with the room, but I guess this is the standard for motels these days. I'm here all week for work, and it'll be a week that reminds me why I don't stay in motels.

There really weren't any decent hotels in this small town, and we were coming from out of state to visit family for the holidays, so we booked this motel. We checked into one room and were moved to another, but the problems were the same. Roaches crawled on the mirror and counter, there were dead bugs and unclean linen, and moving the ottoman revealed food crumbs underneath. The air conditioning barely worked, and the rooms were definitely outdated. When we asked for our money back, the owner was rude. We returned to collect our things, and he told us to hurry up, get them, and leave. Please don't stay here.

I was charged for a room I never used, despite following the cancellation steps Priceline gave me. I canceled in person at the front desk one day before check-in, and Priceline confirmed the hotel needed to authorize the refund. The hotel still refused to return the money. I also took pictures of the property's poor condition, including the building and surroundings. The staff weren't helpful, and I don't recommend staying here.

The Super 8 is dated, but the room was clean and I felt safe there. The staff were very nice, the parking lot was clean, and it was quiet at night. The TV worked well and the shower had good water pressure. The price is great, and I'd recommend it.

It's an inexpensive, typical hotel for construction workers. The bed and shower are decent for what you pay, and it's simply a place to shower and sleep, not somewhere new or fancy. A lot of construction workers stay here, so it can get noisy at times.
