Econo Lodge La Crosse North

The pool was closed for “maintenance” for two weeks, and that wasn’t clearly communicated ahead of time. The room was disappointing too: the sheets had black marks, with yellow stains on both the sheets and towels, and the floor was visibly dirty. With cleanliness and amenities like that, the stay was unsatisfactory.

Breakfast and the room itself were okay for the price, but we couldn't get enough towels for three people. When we arrived, there were two bath towels, one hand towel, and one washcloth. My daughters had cold showers and had to make do with the washcloth and hand towel. I asked for another towel and two washcloths, but was told there were no extras. There wasn't hot water, so I skipped showering anyway. The next morning I tried again, thinking laundry might be done, but the staff said they had 40 rooms to supply and nothing available. One woman found a bag of what looked like new washcloths in the supply room, but would only give me two. I know this sounds like a small problem, but after paying $250 for a room, I expected enough towels and washcloths for the people staying there, and maybe hot water too.

I posted a complaint about Econo Lodge some time ago, and they went above and beyond to make us want to stay here again. The staff were all awesome, and my room was cleaner than clean. It smelled great, the toilet was spotless, and the bathroom had new shower curtains and more towels. The continental breakfast was good too, with plenty of good food. Thanks for a great stay, Sam and staff. I'm 200% happy. A 1.

After trying three different rooms, the one thing they all had in common was filth. None had clean sheets, and each came with its own mystery smell and stains. Econo Lodge La Crosse feels like a hotel horror scavenger hunt. The staff were rude and dismissive, and seemed very relaxed about it. Smoke from weed drifted through the supposedly non-smoking hotel, maybe because they were getting a contact high from it. I've stayed at many Econo Lodge hotels, but this was by far the worst. Save yourself the trouble and possible lung infection, and don't stay here.
