Rodeway Inn La Grande - Island City

I travel for work, and this place gives me what I need: a clean, safe spot to sleep, good parking, and a mini mart in the lot. It’s nothing exciting or fancy, but the price is great for the value. If you just need lodging, it’s a great choice. I’m super happy with it.

The bed and pillows were the worst, and the AC and heater kept cycling on and off all day and night. The walls are thin, parking is poor, and there are no vending machines; the ice machine in the office is very small. The bathtub needs replacing, and there are no USB chargers. Google advertises $71, but the cheapest rate I found was $98. No American flag.

The only real complaint is the noise around the gas station next door. We heard loud trucks and motorcycles, including bikes revving late in the evening, and people around as we came and went. The place is old but clean. Our room smelled a little damp at first, though running the air conditioning helped. The AC was rather loud, but the low fan setting worked well. The TV isn’t smart or Roku, but there are lots of channels. The ice machine was broken, so we asked at the front office and they gave us a generous amount in a ziplock bag.

It was mildly affordable, but staying alone I didn’t feel very safe. There’s a gas station right beside the place, and a room on that side felt a little sketchy.
