The AC had been off all day in the southern Texas summer heat, so the room was hotter than outdoors when I walked in. More than an hour later, even after a shower to cool down, I still couldn't sleep. It was too hot, and the bed was dreadful. I wish I'd made a bed in the back of my car instead of paying for a room. I needed sleep so I could travel safely, and I might still have to sleep in the car just to get cool enough. TERRIBLE!!!!

My vehicle broke down, so staying at the Cottonwood in La Grange wasn't planned. The owner was welcoming, courteous, and made sure I was okay. He even jumped my vehicle and helped me with the situation. That alone deserves a 10 star rating. You won't get that at a Hilton, I promise. My stay went really well.

I walked in, checked the bed and looked around, then decided absolutely not. I was in the room for under five minutes before getting another room somewhere else, but they wouldn't refund me.

The rooms are older, but they were clean, and the price is hard to beat. I only needed one night, and they let me check in at 11:00am, which I didn't expect. The motel itself is old, but the owners/operators go out of their way to give you a five star experience, and they do. That's the kind of service that earns my high rating, along with other people's. If you're choosing among similar vintage motels nearby, I'd pick this one.

Really nice people, friendly and family oriented. It's a great, quiet place to stay, and they accept service animals.
